Be brilliant, play brilliant, and become versed in craps the ideal way!
Games that use dice and the dice themselves goes back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but current craps is approximately 100 years old. Modern craps developed from the 12th Century Anglo game referred to as Hazard. No one knows for certain the birth of the game, however Hazard is said to have been created by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, in the 12th century. It is theorized that Sir William’s soldiers played Hazard amid a blockade on the castle Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was acquired from the citadel’s name.
Early French colonizers brought the game Hazard to Canada. In the 18th century, when exiled by the British, the French relocated down south and settled in southern Louisiana where they after a while became known as Cajuns. When they were driven out of Acadia, they brought their best-loved game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns streamlined the game and made it mathematically fair. It is said that the Cajuns altered the title to craps, which is derived from the term for the losing toss of snake-eyes in the game of Hazard, recognized as "crabs."
From Louisiana, the game moved to the Mississippi river boats and throughout the nation. Many consider the dice builder John H. Winn as the creator of current craps. In the early 1900s, Winn built the modern craps layout. He created the Do not Pass line so players could wager on the dice to lose. Later, he designed the spots for Place wagers and added the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
