Be clever, play smart, and become versed in craps the proper way!
Dice and dice games goes all the way back to the Crusades, but current craps is just about one hundred years old. Current craps developed from the 12th Century English game called Hazard. Nobody knows for sure the birth of the game, although Hazard is said to have been made up by the Englishman, Sir William of Tyre, around the twelfth century. It’s theorized that Sir William’s knights gambled on Hazard through a siege on the castle Hazarth in 1125 AD. The name Hazard was gotten from the castle’s name.
Early French settlers imported the game Hazard to Canada. In the 1700s, when expelled by the English, the French relocated south and settled in the south of Louisiana where they after a while became known as Cajuns. When they left Acadia, they took their best-loved game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns modernized the game and made it fair mathematically. It is believed that the Cajuns adjusted the title to craps, which is gotten from the name of the non-winning toss of 2 in the game of Hazard, known as "crabs."
From Louisiana, the game moved to the Mississippi riverboats and all over the country. A great many think the dice maker John H. Winn as the founder of current craps. In 1907, Winn designed the current craps setup. He added the Don’t Pass line so players could bet on the dice to lose. Later, he invented the spaces for Place bets and added the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
