Be brilliant, play clever, and pickup craps the right way!

Games that use dice and the dice themselves date all the way back to the Crusades, but modern craps is only about 100 years old. Modern craps developed from the 12th Century English game referred to as Hazard. Nobody knows for sure the ancestry of the game, however Hazard is said to have been created by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, in the twelfth century. It’s presumed that Sir William’s horsemen enjoyed Hazard amid a blockade on the fortress Hazarth in 1125 AD. The name Hazard was gotten from the citadel’s name.

Early French colonists brought the game Hazard to Canada. In the 18th century, when banished by the British, the French relocated south and found refuge in southern Louisiana where they eventually became Cajuns. When they were driven out of Acadia, they took their favored game, Hazard, with them. The Cajuns simplified the game and made it more mathematically fair. It is believed that the Cajuns adjusted the title to craps, which is gotten from the term for the losing throw of snake-eyes in the game of Hazard, referred to as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game moved to the Mississippi scows and throughout the country. A great many acknowledge the dice builder John H. Winn as the father of modern craps. In 1907, Winn built the modern craps setup. He created the Do not Pass line so gamblers could wager on the dice to not win. Later, he developed the boxes for Place wagers and put in place the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
