Be clever, play brilliant, and discover how to play craps the correct way!

Games that use dice and the dice themselves goes back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but current craps is approximately a century old. Current craps developed from the old Anglo game referred to as Hazard. No one absolutely knows the origin of the game, but Hazard is said to have been discovered by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, in the twelfth century. It’s presumed that Sir William’s soldiers wagered on Hazard through a siege on the fortification Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was gotten from the citadel’s name.

Early French settlers imported the game Hazard to Acadia. In the 1700s, when driven away by the English, the French moved down south and settled in the south of Louisiana where they at a later time became Cajuns. When they were driven out of Acadia, they brought their preferred game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns modernized the game and made it mathematically fair. It’s believed that the Cajuns altered the title to craps, which is derived from the name of the non-winning throw of two in the game of Hazard, referred to as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game extended to the Mississippi scows and all over the nation. A good many acknowledge the dice maker John H. Winn as the father of modern craps. In the early 1900s, Winn built the modern craps layout. He put in place the Don’t Pass line so gamblers could bet on the dice to not win. Later, he established the spaces for Place wagers and added the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
