Be brilliant, play brilliant, and pickup craps the ideal way!

Dice and dice games date back to the Crusades, but modern craps is approximately one hundred years old. Current craps developed from the 12th Century English game referred to as Hazard. No one knows for certain the ancestry of the game, but Hazard is believed to have been made up by the Englishman, Sir William of Tyre, around the twelfth century. It is theorized that Sir William’s horsemen played Hazard amid a blockade on the citadel Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was derived from the citadel’s name.

Early French colonists brought the game Hazard to Acadia. In the 18th century, when driven away by the British, the French relocated down south and settled in southern Louisiana where they after a while became Cajuns. When they departed Acadia, they brought their preferred game, Hazard, with them. The Cajuns broke down the game and made it fair mathematically. It’s said that the Cajuns altered the name to craps, which was gotten from the term for the bad luck throw of two in the game of Hazard, recognized as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game extended to the Mississippi riverboats and all over the country. Most consider the dice builder John H. Winn as the creator of current craps. In the early 1900s, Winn developed the current craps setup. He put in place the Don’t Pass line so players could wager on the dice to not win. Later, he created the boxes for Place wagers and added the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
